Hello
I hope you may be able to help with identifying a wall clock from c1900.
There is an image of the clock restored here...www.cherished-antiques.com it is the Vienna style clock.
The movement has a stamp on the back with a letter H within a rising sun split in 3 above the engraving representing the ocean.
There is a close up imahe of the face of the clocl in the link.

Re: help needed
Welcome to the DGC Forum, politico.
The logo you describe might be Thomas Ernst Haller.
We would of course need to see it, to verify.
The Vienna style regulator may, or may not be a marriage, according
to dial and center piece, which probably belong to a free swinger clock type.
Again, it is hard to say, without seeing more and better pictures.
The top part of the pediment is missing - it would have been a horse, an eagle,
or some other matching piece.
All in all, the appears to be too glossy over all and it may be "over-restored";
at least it's not the original finish, we're seeing.

hi politico
I agree to Juergens statement, the Dial looks "stolen" from a Freischwinger.
But only more, greater, better Pictures can help to become manifest it.

Re: help needed
Hi
,
Firstly a big thank-you-danke-I have been trying to identify my clock for some rime and having checked the mark on the web it is definately a Haller movement.
I will post some other images of the clock to see if the face is a marriage.
Apologies gentlemen but the clock had been neglected for many years and I have restored it -perhaps a little too much.
It is a wallnut case with beech columns.
Photo's to follow.
Once again thank you

Re: help needed
politico, I would like to emphasize, it's a Thomas Ernst Haller.
There were several Hallers and Th. Ernst was the son of Th. Haller and founded
his own company, after Th. Haller and Junghans had parted in anger....

Re: help needed
yes mod I do recognise that it is a Thomas Ernst Haller movement and from what I can understand elsewhere is not very highly regarded in terms of quality.
However the clock is pretty accurate and the dual colour bars of the pendulum along with decorative face and walnut case mean I still like the clock very much.
Your forum has proved most informative.
