For those who have an interest in seeing these automata clocks...

This is a "Soldier" or "Guardsman" clock. (Schildwache).

As the pendulum swings the soldier walks back and forth, guarding the house.

This clock has an early movement which uses wood spindles, the trains are front to back... but this clock uses chains instead of the earlier ropes.

Also a very original clock, but has had minor restoration in the shield (repair of a crack).

Still a very good early Black Forest automaton in good condition.

... any others in collections out there...???

I have no more automata in the "shield form" :D

Stefan,

Yes another Shield automata from the same Czech Republic seller.

It is amazing how many of these "Antique" automatons she keeps "finding"

I look forward to seeing what she makes next week

Here is another good Black Forest "shield" clock with automa that was added to our collection.

This one is called a Glockenschläger.

The figures strike the bells to call the quarter hours.
